Who Am I?

I’m a proud, loyal person shaped by both pain and resilience. I endured childhood trauma to protect someone I loved, which made me distant for years. Now, I’m breaking free

I’m the kind of person who carries deep pride,
Strong in my stance, with emotions inside.
At times, I’m loud, I’ll leap at the call,
Fiercely protective, I’ll give it my all.

Trust me, my heart is bigger than most,
But I keep to myself, I don’t like to boast.
Cats aren’t my thing; I prefer Dumbo rats,
I’m quirky, I’m odd, and I’m okay with that.

A sucker for love, though it wasn’t always so,
I’ve seen life’s highs and its deepest lows.
Magic enchants me, a dove in the air,
But sometimes life feels too heavy to bear.

With school and work, I’m climbing so high,
But no companion to share in the sky.
My walls are tall, my fortress secure,
Some things take time, and love must be pure.

But here’s the truth, the story untold,
A pain I’ve carried since I was five years old.
To protect my brother, I endured rape for a year,
I screamed for help, but no one could hear.

I was just a child, yet I learned to fight,
To guard and protect, even in the night.
Fifteen years passed, and I found my voice,
At twenty, I vowed: No More Tears by choice.

Yes, the person was caught, justice was done,
But the scars remain from what had begun.
For years, I was cold, distant, and hard,

Protecting myself, always on guard.

But now the ice is starting to thaw,
The heat of healing breaking the law
Of silence I held, the cage I built,
Now I’m sharing my truth without guilt.

So if you wonder, “Why are you this way?”
I hope my story sheds some light today.
I’m still standing, still here, still me,
Stronger than ever, wild and free.

I think it is beautiful when people choose to come through a hard time as a better person. How easy it would be to hate the world and treat others badly. Dumbo rats?

I am a dog person, but I loved my Dumbo rats until they died. did you know they are kind of like dogs? but they are the smartest smallest animal. Look them up

I'm sorry you had to go through that as well, I hope you have come to find piece in it. I struggled for many years blaming my mother for it, due to her always saying she will always protect me when I was younger but I apologized to her when I was 22 years old, when I finally was able to talk about it.
