Ravenous

Ravenous

A Poem by Raymond Federle

There is no living rest.
Only the eternal half life of immortality.
A small price to pay to see time beyond time stretch out before me like a winding road of despair.
To feel the soft gentle coolness of night on your face.
To feel the hunger, passion, and lust in your chest.
To breathe the air knowing that you are a god and the world is before you. Like a table set, I dine on life and it fills me with warmth, for a time.
The need to feel these lost decadent flavors and consume them a longingly, slowly.
To savor the rich marrow of life. Merging with death and to be reborn.

Very fascinating poem. Well done.
The appetites for life is many and are powerful. But death is part of life,
so the flirting with death can make one feel more alive.
