A Place

A Place

A Poem by Raymond Federle

A need to

bleed the sun black
just to escape
this heart-shaped place
I have never longed
so achingly
wishing for stars
to disintegrate
to collide into
bewildered eyes
wasting away
disillusioned days
had I a soul
I'd destroy it
like the wind melts
this loathsome sky

destroy the beauty

encase it in
the filth lining
my lonesome heart
that only longs for
the destruction
of horrid stars
illuminating
your accusing eyes
bleed out all desire
escape back to
this heart-shaped place
I only pray you
let me witness
my beautiful
final destruction

empty this heart

rid me of all
that you believed
of all you found sympathetic
I wish to lie here
in this heart-shaped place
and witness the
supernova of waste
and the destruction
of starlight dreams
you held in your
beautifully
tailored web
just let me lie here
unafraid
