Shaded Hour

Shaded Hour

A Poem by Raymond Federle
"

Shaded Hour

"

The articulate distortion,
of melted clocks,

They led your reflection astray,
Into the shadow of colors long past,
and people of a bygone, haggard array.

The kaleidoscopic shine of eyes,
gleaming in forgetful dismay.

They escorted you down the sidewalk in shackles,
to the sun-beam's infant prance,
giving birth to stretched noon shadows,
completing this sad man's dance.

I too am captivated by the melting clock.

That first line, I couldn't help but think of Salvador Dali's painting, I especially love the way you portray distortion as being articulate. And then your description of the shadows of color is amazing, a great metaphor which really gives birth to a warped mental image of an eidolon world. Especially with your line about shadows of noon; amazing the atmosphere you have generated with so few, yet well thought out, metaphors. Good Job!

clocks melt with time...as do feelings eventually , which become shadows of a past of heartache.

you left me...and i felt such pain....now you are but distant tick of the clock...a shadow of a memory.

i like the rhyme scheme in this piece.
