Take care my son, as you go off with your gun. Playing soldier and going to war. For others are watching and waiting for you. My glorious son of the corps.
Take heed of a older wiser soldier,
who came home with scars and hoorays. In baptism's of fire, brothers in arms on the anvil of death are made.
This advice my son I pass on to you. Clean your gun, straight through the bore. So it fires straight and it it fires true. My glorious son of the corps
I like this, and as usual, is a powerful write, and something very meaningful to you on a personal level. I would think baptism's could do without the apostrophe in this case.:)

...and as usual,.. your right! LOL Thank you my trusty typo spotter. ;P
Very nicely penned my friend. Very good sound advice for anyone entering into a situation like this. If only each and every one of them would come home unscarred...
