Torn

Torn

A Poem by Raymond Federle
"

Torn

"

Loves fire heats the heart, the heart cools and does not remain.

The night makes my grief seem stronger, and of your beauty and lovely youth, my loss is my loves gain.

Your absence gives you memory; My eyes, corrupted by over-partial looks.

To put fair truth upon so foul a face? Let us live divided on roads we took.

Who even now comes back again, assured.
Poor soul, the centre of my sinful earth,

Then give me welcome, my heaven at the best, and making love of proud compare it all others.

The hand that has written it, for I love you so.
My ears with your voice are tune delighted;
For shared the breaking hearts are one,

The pain for two lovers slighted.

the commiseration of two who have been burned by others, that is what I take from this, makes the bond of love stronger. A very nice write.

I continue to be a fan.
