The Long SpikeA Poem by Raymond FederleThe Long SpikeA wild ray of light that bit and pierced me, like the teeth of God. Myself made mad by the hate of the Devil's Paladins. Dragon's breath and fire, threading black flames of perdition. In the Deeping shadow, waves of faces in my soul and an iron spike of fear carrying my heart down a long dark river. I care nothing for all, hurled to and fro in the hulks of a hurricane. I never endured a more triumphant clamouring, entranced in a pallid flotsam, falling backwards to sleep, deep down into an abyss of thought. © 2014 Raymond FederleReviews
