Parting Sweetly

My inspiration for this poem is from watching mothers being left behind weather it be in death or war. Fathers the same whether knowing or not knowing when their loved one is coming home.

She smiles, as she

waves good-bye

Even though he knows

that later she will cry.

She knows of his past 

mistakes, yet loves him still.

Even now when they 

are apart he enters her thoughts

at will.

She still remembers 

their first kiss.

She has never known

such bliss.

Remembering nights in

his arms makes her smile.

It saddens her to 

know that will not happen again 

for a while.

She looks to the future 

with a shining light.

Just as she falls 

asleep at night.
