False Prophets

You speak of peace, love, and faith;
Your speech gives you away!
Hypocrite, why should we listen?

You reside amid self-imposed
grandeur, but the stench of your
lies betray you.

Carrying around undeserved titles,
gloating. Spiritual feeders abusing
your powers.

You lord it over your flock,
milking them dry of their hard earned
wages; you should freely be teaching.

What?

Truth!

Yeah right, you hypocrites;
Corruption sits in your pulpit,
even though it might glisten
on the outside.

Author's Note

This isn't to offend but to bring out truths that in most religions a heavy weight falls upon those in leading positions to teach, yet abuse it.

I absolutly adored this piece! It hit's so close to home; Almost as if my mind had been read.
The leaders of religion and politics as well, all can fall into this words. They abuse, and corrupt. Taking away the essence of Goodness and Godliness from the common folk.

This is a poignant piece of poetry zeroing into a stark reality; I speak from experience. Sadly enough, there is much self-imposed grandeur and many who were called to lead the flock of God merely lord over them as you rightly point out! I don't think any other phraseology would make this piece any better than it already is...

The closing lines remind the reader of the words of Christ when He spoke of the Pharisees as being like tombs and sepulchres, all polished and shining on the outside but filled with bones, darkness and decay within.
