Sleep, or More Accurately the Lack Thereof.

Sleep, or More Accurately the Lack Thereof.

A Poem by Tim Lawless

If I chase sleep any longer,

If I run after it any faster,

If I try any harder,

By morning,

I'll be fit for a marathon.

It's not that I don't want to sleep.

To the contrary,

It would be quite a blessing.

But still it escapes.

Fleeing from my grasp,

Like a thousand other failures.

So I toil away the night,

Chasing after vanity upon vanity.

This restless soul of mine,

Will take me farther from the heart of God,

And closer to everything I've left behind.

Maybe I don't sleep because there are better things to do.

Maybe I should have spent more time talking to you.

Maybe if I'd tried a little harder,

I'd be in a better place.

Or somehow be more deserving

Of His grace.

This is gorgeous Tim.
You kinda describe the other half to my insomnia some nights, when it feels like there are better things that I could be doing instead of sleep.
I think I'll stake my claim, and say this one is my favorite.
