Loving a Demon

I watched from afar,

Never acting,

Never doting.

I stayed away because I knew

It would end in pain.

 

I knew it would end

With my lungs full of holes,

With my stomach over-churned.

I knew my heart would be ripped out,

But still pumping.

I knew I'd lose my mind

Far before I'd lose my head.

My smile would be cut off

And my knees broken.

I knew it would end

With my life extinguished.

 

Yet I took the chance

By loving a demon.
