17 Miles (Waiting for You)

17 Miles (Waiting for You)

A Poem by Reddog19
"

A song about a break-up

"

17 centuries for a bottle of booze.

The car's finally stopped,

Now I'm waiting for you.

15 years and a suitcase packed.

The train's finally stopped,

And I've not turned my back.

13 weeks and a horror story later.

The plane's finally landed,

And I still don't hate her.

11 days and a mile to go.

The ship's finally ported,

And I've seen mountain snow.

9 hours and a life decision passed.

The ocean's finally still,

And you're already racing way too fast.

7 minutes and a ticket out,

The tectonic's finally stopped,

And my love's still cast about.

5 paces left and a figure to my right.

Life's finally stopped singing,

And I've lost my love's might.

3 seconds and an argument with you.

The world's finally stopped,

And now I'm waiting here too.
