Meant to Be

Thirteen months is a long time...the distance is only temporary.

The days pass,

The time goes by;

There's nothing left

But you on my mind.

Every thought,

Every breath,

Every dream,

Always leads

To the same damn thing.

I hate our distance,

It's only a matter of time;

This maddening silence

Will be left behind.

I long to hold you,

To see your smile

We're sick of hearing

"Just a little while."

I could hear the whispers,

The doubt in your mind.

"She's never coming.
She's leaving you behind."

Don't listen to them,

I'll prove them wrong.

You're my entire life,

You have been for so long.

All I'm asking

Is for a little faith in me.

Give me time and I'll show you

That we're 'simply meant to be...'

What a lovely piece. I have known that doubt that you speak of in this poem...I know it very well, but I also know absence makes the heart grow fonder...and that is a true statement Fantastic!
