The Old Frog

The Old Frog

A Story by Renegade

I once spoke out to a frog
Since I wondered what he saw
He only spoke of better times
It was mostly all in rhymes

When I asked him to elaborate
He stopped and looked me in the eye
While in the instant caught a fly
Then croaked and said that it’d be great

He seemed so smitten
When he told me of a world
Where “LOVE” was written
On a simple flag unfurled

I once spoke out to a frog
Since I wondered what he saw
He only spoke of better times
It was mostly all in rhymes

I heard his tongue snap for a fly with a twirl
As he said I knew him from the spirit world
I asked if he was simply speaking lore
He snored, and said you’re such a bore

He told me of a world with other people
Who didn’t mix the politics and steeple
Where there wasn’t any need for greed or war
In the absence of the want to keep a score

I once spoke out to a frog
Since I wondered what he saw
He only spoke of better times
It was mostly all in rhymes
