What has been

What has been

A Poem by Renegade

What has been

Mostly my soul is filled with love

But opposites can fit like gloves

That darker side an anger spree

Built up inside another me

A side effect of family trees

Where addictions hang like leaves

Shifting slowly in the breeze

Love is wrapped within barbed wire

Blued by the heat of lifetime fires

Normal for you may be your glue

But for others it may not true

Normal for you may be their blue

Perhaps the same on the other shoe

You analyze just with your eyes

To deconstruct and scrutinize

And conjure up your pack of lies

To patronize what you describe

As what you see behind my eyes

Don’t tell me that I am feeling sorry

It’s such a common bullshit story

That makes you feel right in your glory

But really it’s an empty lorry

Don’t tell me now that I need drugs

A social treatment understood like bugs

That makes the bad feel like the good

And transforms your mind right into wood

I think my song has just begun

I hope it’s long enough to run

From what will be when it is done

I know my soul is just not in

For any more of what has been
