Soul Song

Soul Song

A Poem by Renegade

Soul Song

My soul it starts to sing a song

When it feels some kind of bond

Perhaps it knows that it is wrong

But it still needs to sing the song

My soul wants what the eyes can’t see

To sooth it in those times of need

To guide it with that forward speed

That helps the mind to intercede

My soul wants what the eyes can see

By complicating want for need

My eyes can see in front of me

My soul wants it to set me free

Contradictions are afflictions

In a world that’s full of fiction

Contemplating want for need

So very often won’t succeed

A soul that wants what it has seen

When what it needs not in the scene

A soul that needs no college dean

To tell it this is where it’s been

My soul it starts to sing a song

When it feels some kind of bond

Perhaps it knows that it is wrong

But it still needs to sing the song
