Such a thing as Love

Such a thing as Love

A Poem by Renette Hollow

Everyone says its better to have loved and lost
But I find that if all this pain is the cost
Then I can't say it was worth all that joy
When you threw me away like a broken toy.

I can't tell if what you say is the truth or a lie
You didn't come to hold me when I started to cry
It was you that I wanted to hold me tight
When I felt like I was falling into endless night.

Instead you choose to stand apart, to stay away
So now the price for my idiocy I must pay
I want to scream, I want to cry, I love you
And you insist that you love me, too.

So I don't know what I'm supposed to do
I don't remember how to stand without you
You were my support, my pillar, my everything
To have you back, I would give absolutely everything.

I promise that I will love you for longer than forever
I will cause you pain once again, never
I will live only because you want me to be there
I want to always into your eyes stare.

I am so very blessed to have loved you
And I will never love another as I have you
You're the reason I believe in such a thing as love
When I thought that no one cared for me above.
