No World for Blind MiceA Poem by Kenny BellamyHave you ever
heard a mouse scream? Who cut off his
tail with a carving knife and left it like a root on
the cutting board, sliced neat as a carrot’s
top? The mouse, nose
to the ground, left his track of
blood for the
farmer’s wife to follow. Little blind
mouse, how he tried to run.
She found him,
small as a cotton ball staunching a
wound, and tucked him into the
garbage disposal. © 2016 Kenny BellamyFeatured Review
