The Wind

The Wind

A Poem by Revery

Why would I yell into a canyon

that won’t echo back

Silence is silence is silence

Why would I raise a sail

without wind to fill

There reaches a point

I set my course

in the direction of the wind.

I suppose it's something like the Biblical suggestion that we do not cast pearls before swine. Not because they are "dirty" animals but because animals do not value pearls. It's not their fault, it's what they are. Anyway, I like this poem quite a lot and trust that you will continue on in the direction of the wind.

Well, true to my word, I read and thought about maybe two dozen (?) of your poems. I'm glad I did. I hope you are saving your work as you go along. It deserves saving, sharing, and revisiting.

Peace & Best Wishes

Silence is silence is silence

was an unexpected, but appreciated line. 3rd times a charm. I know someone already commented on it, but

why would i raise a sail
without wind to fill

touched me. It's true, no matter how hard we may try to push, push, push life forward, in the end, if the wind isn't there, why are we trying so hard?
Awesome poem

Anytime, my friend
I agree! I have been echoing into an empty canyon for awhile now, and I recently gave up. If someone doesn't want to be your friend, and you have to work relentlessly to get any connection, then it is time to charter your boat where the current is strong and the work is less, and the fun is more~!

The older I get the more I learn to just go with the flow.
Wonderfully written words. Simply stated with great depth. "Why would I raise a sail
without wind to fill... There reaches a point" great lines!

Nice to see you too. I do especially like that new (old) avatar! heehee
A write with such devotion and respect for these precious aspects.
With so little you speak volume, and that is the essence of all...
Just a pearl of knowing all what matters, and what not...
Lovely my dear friend.

I really love the loud attention grabber "yell into a canyon"! The thoughts are very interesting and inspiring. It actually made me think about all the energy and time I spend waiting on things that won't even happen.

Awesome poem!
