I think my oldest one on here is from 1976, "The TREE", and it just won a contest; so, I'm guessing it's not lost much of its luster.
I like to grab one from the archives and share it to see if it still has any oomph left in it, and I can be sure if it doesn't, one of the keen-eyed/knowing poets on here is going to tell me … LOL!

Rhyme scheme (x's represent the number of unrhymed words in a line and the lowercase letters represent the words at the end of the line that rhyme the same):
xxxa (line 1 is identified with an "a")
xxxa (line 2 is identified with an "a" indicating these two "a" lines rhyme with each other in their end words)
xxxxxb (line 3 is identified with a "b")
xxxc (line 4 is identified with a "c")
xxxc (line 5 is identified with a "c" indicating these two "c" lines rhyme with each other with a different rhyme than lines "a" or "b" in their end words)
xxxxxb (line 6 is identified with a "b" indicating these two "b" lines rhyme with each other in their end words with a different rhyme than lines indicated as "a" and "c")

It is the international language used in poetry rules to guide the poet writing in a particular form, much as music has its own language.

Of course!
In every verse, make lines 1 & 2 and lines 4 & 5, 4-syllables long, and lines 3 & 6, 6-syllables long.
In addition in every verse, make line 1 rhyme with line 2, make line 4 rhyme with line 5, and make line 3 rhyme with line 6 … WALLA!
Much easier, eh?
