A truly fascinating tribute to poets of old who worked so hard to enchant their readers and in return to earn a living, in this exceptionally penned Sonnet. All poets past, present and future, I feel will forever be both grateful to those who view their poetry and respectful of their views. Wondrous inking, Richard. Enjoyed reading your amazing Sonnet complemented by a very apt and beautiful painting. Thank you for sharing...

It's difficult to come up with adequate words to express the sheer satisfaction from the effulgent perceptions of your acumen in grasping the scope of this piece's intended relatability to all poetesses and poets.
There are a growing number of poetic writers who have narrowed their skills to one or two forms, dismissing all others as outdated and useless in today's venue … failing to realize poetry is an endless art that is made-up of literally hundreds of forms, appealing to all its connoisseurs on some special level, many for some … unfortunately, few for others.
Thank you, Marie, for such a stellar review for this humble offering, opening your heart and mind in such a demonstrative way. I am ever-so grateful you possess the verbal acumen, intelligence, and broadminded wherewithal to do so.
Bless you truly, Dear Poetess ⁓ Richard🖌

Most welcome always, dear poet. Richest and most beautiful blessings your way also...
This was so much fun to read. I think you captured an older style of English in a way that pulled your readers into the time period while keeping it something all audiences can read. I am such a fan of bards and storytelling through poetry and song. You have given us something that plunges us into an old creative world rich with wonder.
Also incredible the way you kept the flow throughout the whole piece!

To receive such effulgent sentiments of recognition, praise, and expressed appreciation makes writing and sharing a truly blissful undertaking … what more could a hopeful bard wish than to be so adulated by a s skillful writer as yourself.
That you've found pleasure in reading my humble efforts, Dear Poetess, gratifies the study of classical poetry; though, my pen composes in all forms, even the contemporary Free Verse styles of today.
Ahhh, listen at me … you've gotten me so inspired I'm chatting away like wind dancing in the treetops!
Hugs 'n blessing to thee, Carissa Mae, for gifting my being a warm smile! ⁓ Richard 🍃
Yes bard your creative pen outshines many and your delightful rhyming is so fabulous that we wish you write more of such wonders. You wrote a great lovely acknowledgement and poetic note of thanks to your readers in this one. Kudos!! Best wishes,
Plz do read and comment on my newest poem too, right on top of my page

Your kind generosity and acknowledgment in understanding my humble efforts to write for and please my lady poetesses and fellow poets, have made them feel ever-so appreciated and worthwhile.
funny how I missed reviewing this, surely I read it but not sure why I didn't review it? from tip to toe, from the first word in title to the last word in last line, every sentence it's You at your best self, and I never knew You but like that, the "best self". I love the "smart reader" line because sometimes it requires a smart reader to "read", the same way that we see many poets who write in a beautiful way, but few who write in a smart and beautiful way. I admire your third verse, how You turned from creativity to life itself, the attitude the Bard choses to take not in poetry but also in life, this sonnet specially flows with a wonderful simplicity, and in sonnets as far as I know it's hard to keep it simple like that, your choice of the English sonnet and still making it simple like that is a perfect fit for your theme and of course "smartly" done :)
for the long years of giving in poetry, it's us who must bow in deep respect and gratitude~ Happy Days Sir Richard ✨

Ever-so warmly and sincerely, just as I perceive your heartfelt, lovely words voiced in gracious praise and appreciation of my humble efforts.
Who could ask for a more beautiful or buoyantly expressed review than this from your golden pen and glowing ink upon my page.
As usual for you & sonnets, everything perfectly polished, along with great art to gaze upon. The thing I like the most about this one is how there's no heavy Elizabethan dialect, which isn't easy or fun for me to read (& you know I'm the type of poet who just wants to have fun) . . . and instead, this sounds nicely conversational, while also retaining the formality of style & topic. Good on you for encouraging other writers in this way. Hope your new year is staring with contentment (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

The sun should just about be peeking over the California mountain tops to greet you 'n the girls. : ) I hope, you've all enjoyed a warm, restful night's sleep.
How lovely it is you've found such favor in a Sonnet. Some of the things I enjoy about this form is how, after all these years, it's still a nice challenge, and whether composing in classical or contemporary expression, it is versatile enough to accompany any topic or mode of thinking and feeling … even for those who "just wanna have fun!" ; )
What a beautifully encouraging and appreciative review to begin the new year.
Thank you, Margie Dear, with my warmest wish for a magically bountiful, heartfelt 2021 … Happy Hugs! ⁓ Richard 🍃

I always find your poems interesting to browse, Richard. The words are always interesting and in some constructive format that's easy to navigate. I find that's becoming less and less viable on this site these days.

if it isn't my very fine friend, Tim! It is such a great surprise to greet you here today.
We're very pleased you've arrived back from your brief sojourn away … you've been missed and inquired about by many, you know.
It's such an humbling blessing for my wee efforts to be appreciated and enjoyed by an artist so accomplished as yourself … I bow.
It is true what you say about structured poetry on here, and I find this to be so (in general) across the net on the multitude of sites I serve on.
I, suppose, if one is to find such quality, they must be selective in what and whom they read and review, or to learn to more gracefully accept that which is taking place by a number of the younger, newer, less studied, and practiced writers that seem to pick up pen and scribe as they so wish, without form of discipline the more refined craft and art commands … ahhh, but all too often, such is the radical change of rebellion, until it eventually reaches its reasonable/natural balance, eh? : )
Thank you, My Friend … it is good to see you here again, on this bright, warm, sunlit day! ⁓ Richard 🍃

You're welcome, Richard. And thank you for the kind words. I am humbled by them.
Not only spot on form, but both humorous and witty to boot.
Much enjoyed.
