Golden Words

O’ that I were handsome,

buff as I want to be,

I’d sweep you off your feet …

steal then your love for me.

I’d be there beside you,

listening to your woes,

offering soft solace …

embraced through highs ’n lows.

We'd share each ardent wish

to cross our minds each day,

swallow your breathless sighs,

letting you have your way.

Paint the sky above you

soft fuchsia of your lips,

kiss their willing wonders …

all others’ they’d eclipse.

Strum you a melody

more precious than a rose,

sing you songs of romance …

up-curl your happy toes.

We’d lay beneath the stars,

speak love words without sound,

feel stirrings in our hearts,

with fireflies all around.

When highest moonglow soars,

reflecting in our eyes,

we’d sweetly surrender …

make-love ’til first sunrise.

Those promises we'd make,

vows never to be broke …

Nature there to witness

each golden word we'd spoke.

Richard, your poetry is light, airy, bubbly, with smells of the light perfume and lilies…. How does one have such a way of delivering??? Even when I am at ease with joy, contentment and surrender, I am not able to get there. You must have a distancing ways and loving protected heart. It is a very distinct and special talent… and I truly envy yours.

what a nice melody these lines make:) the structure of 6/6 makes a surprising tune with the interlacing stressors I never try this but I like it very much I oft do quatrains of 6/8/6/8 for this type of poem. the feeling that flows from these lines is perfectly crafted old friend
