Only In My Dreams✨
In sleepy dreams of kindred spirits wed …
it’s these I run to, chasing through the night. Before my eyes are closed, such dreams are spread together, heart and soul ~ in fevered flight.
Live thee, but naught lost glows from yesteryear, when now sweet songs are sung of destiny. What's held there in your dreams to so endear, that you might think you cannot find in me?
“Yours is the sweetest heart,” I’ve always said … though, needing many answers -- so, it seems. If you should realize why joined hearts sped, you'd have no need to run from passion’s schemes.
I’ve kept my deepest dreams for you to share … yet, find I cannot have you all my hours; for, you belong to one whose love’s unfair, while I am wholly captive to your pow’rs.
Embraced in dreams, those moments we’ve held dear; they’ve turned to fading memories, it seems. Still, dream I must, for it is e’er so clear M'Love … you’re mine ~ yet, only in my dreams.
Oh, what a heartbreaking write! Lovers who can only be together in dreams, only then happy while life has to be lived apart and unhappily. This beautiful poem tugged at my heartstrings as I read and it is a poem which could be applied to so many 'lovers' world wide. Love the rhyming scheme and the little gems of allegory dotted here and there throughout. Your poetic pen paints a very impressive sketch of the lovers who long for togetherness and fulfillment! Poignant, yet romantic and a truly splendid write. Thank you for sharing, dear poet...

I do agree with the clear understanding essence of your sentiments regarded by the sadly fated inferences flowing ever-so painfully throughout this piece … yet, all too many online lovers can easily relate.
Thank you, Marie, for your beautifully expressed enjoyment and appreciation of this gentle, but deeply emotional piece.

Thank you sincerely, Thomas, for reading another of my humble efforts … and, most certainly, for your gracious praise, thereof.
Oh how the heart has a way of choosing its path. Nothing else comes close or compares to the desires felt for another. Those dreams forever suspended in time and kept alive in a longing heart. Always present, always tugging, always a reminder, and always juggling pleasure and pain. Only In My Dreams, says it all. Beautifully composed, with an equally beautiful image. Your words, expressed with every true emotion, is absolutely a pleasure to read and review!

Your preview is a poignantly beautiful poem in itself, and speaks ever-so direct and true to the core essence of my emotion and intent when composing … you always grasp my poetry so very well.
I agree with you, too … the picture is beautiful; it is one of my all-time favorites that was made at her home and given to me a few years back by my best friend … I am so very pleased you like it, too. : )

It is so very nice of you to drop by for such a thoughtful read and beautifully poetic commentary, on this rather fantasy-laden little work from my wishful pen's imagination.
Yes, indeed, we see heart-to-heart! "Mistletoe kisses, gold rings, and promises" are certainly gifts of romantic
endearments to treasure and embrace.
Yet, who I ask, but You, could say it with such poetical aplomb?
With my warmest thanks and a, "Merry New Year, Chère Dame Poète La Mien!" ⁓ Richard🖌
A most enjoyable read Richard. The style of writing gave the poem an old worldly charm from the romantic era. The only thing missing is the wax stamp but alas is not possible. Another professional written piece by you Sir. Hats off to you.
