Repeat After Me

Every morn, as sun arises,

is another day I’ll be blessed.

For, I know there’ll be surprises;

sheer joyfulness, each time, expressed.

And, should I find that sorrow’s swept

its shadowed shapes across my heart,

I’ll repeat your words, as vows kept …

loving cares, that will never part.

With these wondrous thoughts I've been graced,

I'm ever-so gratefully thrilled.

I promise to keep them well-placed,

'til my heartbeats - alas - are stilled.

Every morn, as sun arises:

This poem is brief yet leaves a very lasting impression on the reader. Its simplicity is its beauty and the message is so human, so relatable. I loved how you picked morning, the start of the day to create the anticipation and took us through the day with hope and optimism. Indeed, we cannot pick our day, its events, the misery or fortune it brings us. But we can choose to feel hopfeul and grateful about it, especially when there's a special someone reminding us to do so.

I see you've become a man of few words in the heavenly Springtime Ozarks, but those shared were each well worth waiting for, as they always are.
Not one of my most stellar pieces, I know, but in defense: it's never easy for me to compose on order … as this one is, for Em's poetry group.

i think you did a great job with the challenge! not feeling a lot like talking lately ... my dog Beauregard passed away a few days ago .. he had cancer and i spent as much time with him as i could .. well worth it says i :) stay well!

How we so willingly adopt our little friends and take them into our hearts, knowing all the time they'll be with us only for awhile; still, we become so involved with them in our daily lives we forget … besides, the blessed wonder of it all leaves us helpless to resist.
