Old Pennypack

Old Pennypack

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

Can you hear her music?

"
Her footpaths
echo the beat
of history,
ancient and modern

Her flowing creek
renders
the rhythm,
gentle and wild

Her forest
dons vibrant robes
to sing a duet
with the breeze

While the Life within
hums
in perfect harmony

Mother Nature's Lenape Princess
plays all of her instruments
in Old Pennypack

i must assume that Pennypack is a river in your area....this is delightfully light and has a blissful and endearing feel throughout. i love communing with nature. here in the great Pisgah mountains we have several rivers, the French Broad is nearest to my home. she is a gorgeous lady and runs from quiet pools of eddying water to majestic falls and rapids of thrilling exuberance, and she runs south to north....thank you for this lovely write, Rita!

Rita,

The rich vibrant story you craft here, makes for a pleasant read. The imagery is that of serenity and calm. The personification of the nature that surrounded you on your walk is very poetic.

The use of Lenape Princess was one of the standout parts of the poem for me.

It seems that nature has always inspired so many of us. Whispered sweet stories to us all to write of the awe she inspires.

Great work Rita.

Indeed, it always is. Thanks for reading.
Such grace is this piece, it's beautifully written. I love the quiet of nature, especially with the history that special places have. Your poem about this place is spiritual, for no better choice of words. I've only been to PA a couple of times before, but I was unfamiliar with Pennypack Park and Pennypack Creek - so I researched, which brought me greater understanding of your poem. I love how you tie in the Lenape people, who gave this creek her name. It must be a very special place for you. Thank you for sharing this. It's really cool!

Really great work here. Much like the harmony of the Nature, this one is perfect. You've placed me in the middle of nature, feeling the intense peace. Great, absolutely fantastic!

Thank you Rain! Glad you enjoyed.
So beautiful! This is tangible imagery at its best. I love the feeling that I got while reading this. I could actually visualize the forest; the vibrant colors, the ever changing nature of...nature. The last stanza really sent this home for me. Well done, I will be back for more!
