Waiting

Waiting

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

It's gonna be a while...

"
This room is made for waiting
And that's just what you'll do
How you decide to spend the time,
Well, that is up to you

You can watch TV and worry,
or you can read a book;
you can pace the floor
or give the magazines a look

And when your need to sit around
and worry's not abating,
that's ok because there's more ~
waiting, waiting, waiting

Finally, your loved one's out,
concern has now been sated,
and you're glad to be there,
even though you waited

Exasperating, but a favorable outcome erases the frustrating. Does make me wonder how much of our time on earth is squandered in waiting rooms, standing in lines, and urging the blasted computer to go faster. Very well written poem. I enjoyed it.

Nothing like that helpless feeling of only being able to wait and see... very well written, I could feel the anxiety vibe in your verses.

Thanks, Dale - I try not to let the anxiety out - it leaked into the poem! :)

I think it comes natural in a situation like that.
I enjoyed the rhyme in this poem. Your first verse reminds me of an old song. You may have this small poem as a gift:

Her Boots

Boots are made for walking
and that's just what she'll do
Now's her time for stalking
as she's stomping over you.

Makes me think of the time I spent waiting for my grand daughters to be born...their Mom had to have C-sections, and, of course, I was not allowed into the delivery room, as I had been for most of my grandbabies.
It was agonizing...I couldn't just sit in the waiting room...I had to get as close to the action as could be. I remember hearing that first cry...and how I wanted to rush inside to make sure my baby had come through okay...
They are half grown now, those girls...but it still seems like yesterday.
Well done!

Ok, I am so happy everyone is fine!
Waiting requires a lot of patiece especially in a hospital setting where we have to look at walls and worry , worry , worry. Luckily we can do some of the activities you have mentioned. A great write...:)
