Same Sounds Abound When I'm Around

A response to Dr. Wood?'s poem "Free"

I’m not adverse

To penning free verse

But, blessing or curse,

In rhyme, I converse

 

I don’t have  to rhyme ~

not all the time ~

though I’m sure it’s no crime,

and it feels so sublime!

it's more difficult for me doing hard rhyme because for the life of me I cant find another word better than sublime.

I know this feeling Rita, or actually, I knew this feeling. I wrote in rhyme for so long it felt strange, my first attempt at free verse. I struggled mightly with it until having the opportunity to read some of the wonderful free verse poets here and ebfore I knew it, rhyming did not feel as comfortable as it once did. Very nice penned.

I used to avoid free verse, too. Now, I feel some things are expressed better in free verse - but the silly stuff - that's just fun to rhyme! Thank you, Jack!

i don't have to rhyme as this poem will evidence...ha ha...
so i will use free verse
that's not so terse
do describe how i feel
when i read rhyming with a zeal
that falls apart
because rhyme is not close to my heart.

Rhyme is just one way to go. I used to avoid free verse because I couldn't make it "feel" like a poem... Thanks, Jacob!
