I Just Don't Know

Frieda's senryu brought this to mind...

Just what was in the mind of God

to make the platypus look so odd

And what on earth was he thinkin'

to make the skunk so awful-stinkin'?

The rat is ugly, as is the roach;

a slug's another I wouldn't approach.

I guess all critters just can't be

as pleasant and charming as the likes of me!
