I remember seeing the Mummers in a parade on the boardwalk in Atlantic City....of course that was before Atlantic City was what it is today. I think it was probably in 1958 or 59. They were mesmerizing. Between their movements and their music, I could not take my eyes off them and I remember being sad when they were finished performing. This is a great tribute. The parade gets better every year - people think they are just a bunch of drunken revelers, but there is real talent underneath those feathers!
I had no idea this went on. Good to see there are still traditions in this country :)
