A barbecue and time with family is great, but providing freedom for all every day is the gift of a soldier. The least we can do is to maintain it, and pass it on.

I couldn't agree more and your poem sings to the purpose of the day. It is a contemplative day for those who have lost someone so that we might all enjoy the state of freedom. Well done.
Memorable words and gift for this Memorial day to honor the sacrifice for those who gave with their lives rights and significance. Thank you for the honor and sharing too in the spirit...Excellent...:)......................
Youve touched the real meaning in your words...I love that you always remind us of the true spirit behind our holidays. It holds a great significance to me as many of my family have served. My grandmother was also a member of both the American Legion and The VFW Ladies Auxiliary for many years. I bought my poppies yesterday as is our family tradition. It always makes me think of her and my grandfather...both are buried at Quantico.

Spectacular tribute to those who gave their lives for our country and freedom.
In the words of Billy Ray Cyrus
"All gave some
some gave all,
some stood through
for the red, white and blue
and some had to fall,
if you ever think of me
think of all your liberties
and recall, some gave all."
