No-Snow Snow Day

No-Snow Snow Day

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

They predicted Snowmageddon

so we got some milk and bread

the totals would be epic ~

that’s what all the news guys said

I found my trusty shovel

and some rock salt for the path

ready to do battle

with old Mother Nature’s wrath

So sure of winter’s wild storm

they even closed the schools ~

that’ll teach us trusting souls

to listen to those fools!

(I know the news teams need to make

 each story into dramas,

and I really should be glad to spend

the day in my pajamas!)

I've been through this myself. They confidently predict hurricanes for my area; we batten down, buy up--and nothing happens. San a=Antonio is too far from the gulf for a hurricane, a tornado, or even a particularly bad tropical storm.

Of course, this city closes down at the first sight of snow.

It is typical....when a hurricane is thousands of miles from South Florida, the meteorologists are salivating and scaring the bejeebers out of everyone. That is what happened with this Juno blizzard. However, it is nice to have an extra day to laze around, isn't it? Very cute write. Lydi**

I shouldn't complain, really! I have got to stop trusting the weather reports! Thanks, Lydi!
Just watching it on TV this morning, someone commented saying "More like blah-storm"

I think back to when I lived there and they closed school for a dusting of flakes on the ground.
When I was a kid in Idaho you need at least 2 feet for them to close up.

Growing up, we rarely got snow days... now it's fear of lawsuits...

Oh I know, that is why they don't have monkey bars anymore.
but it was an exciting inch and a half eh?
cause it made for "pajama day"!

I just hate to waste a day, when we still have to get through February... :)
I was prepared to wake up to tons of snow, though I'm just happy I got off from school.
