Edge of Want

Edge of Want

A Poem by Where Rivers Wander

Making marks
No one can see
Leaving traces
Only strangers can feel.

Singed in a heat
From fires building
Smoke in the memory
Of deep words concealed.

I feel them
Where you move
Carried deeper
Where silence proves.

Held in heat
From fires staying
Ash in breath
Of truths not saying.

Deliver me now
From the grip of want
Feed my knowing
On a pillow of shame.

Hungry enough
To devour your need
Thirsty enough
To taste sweat in the rain.

Hold me here
In the edge of want
Let my silence
Learn your name.

No escape
From what we feed

Only closer
In falling rain.
