Writing In the Sand

Writing In the Sand

A Poem by Vancarrie64

Children run along the beach
And in the sand they write
the words they want the world to see
before day yields to night

The shore is full of hearts and dates;
Of words we want to say.
Of peoples' names and footprints,
And things of which we pray.

Secrets carved in our histories
That we hope the earth saves.
When truthfully they're fleeting,
Then swept away by waves.

And so fate was kind to me,
And penned with shaky hand.
You were never my forever.
Just writing in the sand.
