A Witchy Lullaby

A Witchy Lullaby

A Poem by RomaJ
"

Light Version. In the spirit of October. This is an old write. But I wrote a dark version for it.

"
Shadow wings and whispered charms,
Sleep now, my little one.
Come drift with me through dreaming skies,
To worlds beyond the sun.

Tonight we’ll ride the broom of stars,
And dance upon the moon;
We’ll catch its glow within our hands,
Like fireflies in June.

We’ll sail through velvet comets’ tails,
And sip the dust of space;
The dark’s a cloak that gently folds
Around our resting place.

Don’t fear the wind that sighs outside--
My arms will hold you tight.
The cauldron hums a lullaby,
Beneath the jeweled night.

We’ll find the mountain where stars fall,
A silver, drifting stream;
Moon-dust will rise beneath our feet,
And shimmer like a dream.

We’ll watch the nebulae unfold,
In hues of pink and gold;
No sorrow comes, no tears are told--
Just wonder to behold.

Then down we drift through morning’s gray,
Past clouds and windowpane.
I’ll tuck you in before the day,
And kiss you soft as rain.

We’ll keep its glow within our hearts,
So when you wake, you’ll rise--
Still shining with the moon’s sweet light
That lingers in your eyes..

I truly appreciated your poem. Will read more. Promise.
And that, my dearest fledgling, is precisely why we must always, always ensure the cauldron's emergency brake is engaged before launching for the night.
Otherwise, you risk waking up to find that a grumpy celestial squirrel has replaced your favorite pillow with a perfectly spherical, slightly sticky nova remnant, which, while technically excellent for light-saber practice, has an unfortunate tendency to hiss softly every time you dream of non-euclidean teacups. The dust of space is fine for sipping, but for an optimal nap, nothing beats a mattress woven from the spun silk of a thousand benevolent, banjo-playing space spiders!

All this to say, this is stunning. I am enchanted

This is even more enchanting, Roma- how was this hiding since 2015? The “light version” feels like the same spell sung under gentler stars. Both lullabies...dark and light...are pure October magic. Witches are my favorite
