A Witchy LullabyA Poem by RomaJLight Version. In the spirit of October. This is an old write. But I wrote a dark version for it.
Shadow wings and whispered charms,
Sleep now, my little one. Come drift with me through dreaming skies, To worlds beyond the sun. Tonight we’ll ride the broom of stars, And dance upon the moon; We’ll catch its glow within our hands, Like fireflies in June. We’ll sail through velvet comets’ tails, And sip the dust of space; The dark’s a cloak that gently folds Around our resting place. Don’t fear the wind that sighs outside-- My arms will hold you tight. The cauldron hums a lullaby, Beneath the jeweled night. We’ll find the mountain where stars fall, A silver, drifting stream; Moon-dust will rise beneath our feet, And shimmer like a dream. We’ll watch the nebulae unfold, In hues of pink and gold; No sorrow comes, no tears are told-- Just wonder to behold. Then down we drift through morning’s gray, Past clouds and windowpane. I’ll tuck you in before the day, And kiss you soft as rain. We’ll keep its glow within our hearts, So when you wake, you’ll rise-- Still shining with the moon’s sweet light That lingers in your eyes.. © 2015 RomaJ © 2025 RomaJAuthor's Note
