Come back to bed

Come back to bed

A Poem by RomaJ

Come back to bed, my love,
where every breath still remembers you,
where the blankets curve around your absence
and the pillow holds your scent.

The sheets stretch wide as oceans,
and I feel already so far from your land,
far from your memory.

The city hums outside,
but here, time stops.
The sun can wait,
and so can everything else.

Your side of the bed is empty,
and I reach across the space
for a warmth that isn’t there.
Come back before the quiet becomes too loud,
before the morning steals you away from me.

I want the brush of your hand,
the curve of your shoulder
against mine,
the familiar rhythm
of us
that makes the world feel small,
safe, ours.

Come back to bed, my love.
Let the light wait.
Let the sheets remember you.
Let me hold you
as if the world outside this door does not exist,
only this room,
only this moment,
only us.

Come back to bed,
where everything that’s real,
everything that’s waiting for you,
is here,
under the covers.

Roma, this is heartbreak wrapped in silk, that space between leaving and wanting to stay.

It’s an invitation disguised as art. The way you make the sheets and silence ache for someone… it’s almost unfair.

It’s the kind of poem that makes a man hesitate with one boot on, wondering if the world can really wait another hour. You turned longing into gravity....soft, irresistible, and real.
It's seductive and beautiful.

This is so beautiful and profoundly moving. Roma, you captured that feeling of waking up alone and the immediate, overwhelming pull to keep a loved one close before the day begins to separate you.

"The sheets stretch wide as oceans," and feeling "so far from your land."
The contrast between "The city hums outside, but here, time stops."

It perfectly encapsulates how a shared bed can feel like the safest, smallest, and most real world.

I'm sure he'd love to come back to bed, don't we all? hehe but, we all need money. I love this poem.

A very evocative piece here, evidently the thoughts of a lover who feels acutely the departure of the beloved, who may be leaving for work. I have no doubt of the sincerity of the words, but I read them from an old man's perspective. I wonder how they will sound thirty years from now.
