PrologueA Chapter by Harley RoseYes? … No? You choose your own fate…There are some people out there who believe your fate is set in stone when you’re born and many others who think that you find destiny in a questionable journey cast upon us by the unknown, claiming to be life. But what is life? In the true world there are no fates or destinies just people putting their lives in the hands of the devil, scrambling to the top, dubbing it as their own path to greatness. Death
hides behind the noble mask of fate and destiny, allowing fear to creep not
only into the mind but to the soul as well. Fear can rot the soul but it can
also strengthen it, depending on how one takes it. But
I shall not fear death. I have accepted it as it is and it walks as my
companion on the road of sorrow and sees with me where it has taken me. I will
face death with pride, what awaits after is what I fear, whether it be eternal
happiness or pain. Pain I can deal with, I know how it functions and how to get
past it, push it to the back of my mind. It is happiness that I fear. It works
mysteriously. Pain works the same for everyone yet happiness is different for
everyone. It confuses me and confusion frightens me. Happiness muddles the
brain with useless thoughts that block concentration, yet everyone wants to be
happy. To be lost in their secret worlds turning a blind eye to what is
happening around them. I
am called Gwen and I walk alone on this beaten path of existence. There are
many paths that cross with others and you meet along the way but mine is in pure
solitude and the silence is peaceful. I never look left nor right for a friend
because I know one will not cross my seemingly never ending rut. © 2013 Harley RoseAuthor's Note
