CountingA Poem by Anna
I am counting minutes till I can count hours-
counting seconds and sips of cheap coffee. I rush to count raindrops and snowflakes- counting soap bubbles and chipped white plates. I am counting door-slams till I can count none- counting boxes and cookie-cutter smiles on lips. I drag my feet to count heart beats and words- counting breaths and unfamiliar footsteps. I am counting months till I can count dollars- counting tears and second-hand memories. I run to count dewy morning glories and clouds- counting faces and old deep woodland ravines. Counting, counting.
