When I Leave This Place (Version 1)

Inspired by and dedicated to the teachers, stadd, and students of Rio del Norte Elementary School (RDN). I wrote this in 6th grade, just before I graduated that year, about three years ago. It was my home for about four years ago, and I will miss it forev

When I leave this place,

 

I will not forget your face

My beloved RDN,

You were my only friend.

 

I may leave in tears,

But I will overcome my fears

Thanks to you,

I will live my life through

 

All because of you, RDN.

 

I have learned

That the world is my friend

I can trust,

I have learned everything I must

 

When I leave this place,

I can stand up high

With a smile on my face.

 

You never treated me

Like an outsider or a rat,

And because of that,

I will never forget your face

 

When I leave this place.

Be honest, be blunt, but always remember that this was one of my earliest poems, so it really isn't as well-written as the more recent ones.
