Cherish Where it Lies.

Cherish Where it Lies.

A Poem by Thomas Ryan

It wasn't about luxury hotels,
Nor the engagement in Paris,
Not his first kiss or our initial handshake.
It was simply the fading breath of love.
His presence remained a mystery,
For why acknowledge it when he was elsewhere,
I stayed through thick and thin,
While he chose to wander elsewhere.
That was then, this is now,
Alone, pondering his absence.
He never truly captured my heart,
But I held onto the one he offered.
He shattered our love,
Perhaps it could've been a heavenly union.
I will rediscover love,
Find the heart I seek,
Until then, it's time to focus on myself.
