Ballerina

Ballerina

A Poem by Harmony

Music box ballerina,
forever going to twirl ...
her actions and looks will always model
what it means to be a girl ...

I know I tend to whine
how hard it is to be feminine ...
but in the same breath as her,
I think I will be fine.

I fondly remember the little ballerina jewelry box I had as a child. It's crazy just how emblematic those are of little girlhood and femininity. They're not even hugely interactive toy, but they are kind of iconic nonetheless.
I recently had a conversation with my mom that was essentially, "I'm going to still do it but I don't want to and I'm going to whine about it the whole time". Sometimes there's a lot of value in whining, but it's also a good thing to acknowledge that you do think things will turn out fine as well.

Aren't you just terrific? I think I read this a year ago. It's delightful, why did I not comment? Some kind of lapse in judgement. Obviously.

Well done, keep it up when you can!!

Well how about that? This delights me. Almost magically.
I think this looks amazing. I wonder why you are still not on the top writer.

Hi, Harmony 🌾

Welcome to the Café … I hope you will enjoy it here and stay to make many friends and attract even more fans.
What brought me to your page is that I saw your name in the online writers list, and because my daughter's name is Harmony, my interest was caught.
What a lovely artwork choice to set the mood, along with the perfect title.
In classic Quatrain form, you've expressed and vividly captured what it must be like to have to model oneself to the ideal of what society has taught a female image must be, and despite it all, you're bound and determined to be just fine with who you are. Unless I've miscued on the message, I'd like to compliment you on a very well laid poem with meaningful depth displayed, intelligently and discreetly woven into your words … I can almost hear the beautifully tinkling waltz notes. 🎶

Thank you for sharing, Harmony … very much enjoyed.
