Stop Signs and Blood Crimes

A poem I wrote for this teen violence essay contest in my school

Stop!

Can you hear their cries?

Stop!

Can you feel their pain?

Stop!

Do you know what it means?

Stop!

When their blood hits the floor.

Stop!

When they writhe with regret.

Stop!

Should they ever tell you to?

Stop!
Would you ever listen?

Stop!

When will you learn?

Stop!

When will it be enough?

Stop!

For you to see blood crimes committed.

Stop!

Shall I tell you again?

Stop!

I’m not one to listen.

Stop!

Then to forget.

Stop!

I won’t follow in your path.

Stop!

Nothing will persuade me.

Stop!

This nightmare has to end.

Stop!

With it, this dream,

Stop!

Will not begin.

Stop!
