The Plum Tree

The Plum Tree

A Poem by Saibung
"

God gave you life not that not only for you alone, you have to live up to your potential, why? God has kept many people who are going to be dependent on you. So, don't deny others of their blessings.

"
A plum tree, young yet of age
Starved of life, wishing to grow stronger
Yet planted in the most desolated desert
To feed straying hungry souls

Oh how he wish to be full
To taste his own fruits, to rest in his own shadows
To meet another palm tree who would feed him
To be seen not as savior but as another lost soul, he is

Then one day came the one who planted him
He vent, cursing his place, wishing for a change
However for the one who planted him, it hurts to hear
For he does not understand his significance

His fruits were never meant for him
He was never meant to fill his own hunger
He was a light, a drop of water, a hope
That give lost souls the will to move on

This is a thoughtful piece. The plum tree metaphor carries a quiet ache, yet also a sense of purpose and light.
