We met again on a traveler’s weary road (for whatever reason we chose the same inn--) I thought you were quaint but I was drawn to you (to your smile and the color of your eyes, celestial paint--) We sat across the room from each other (I wanted to approach you to clear the gloom--) I felt like I knew you or we had met (my soul felt yours and the feeling grew--) Leaps and bounds and we wound up in each other’s arms (such solice embraced me like the pen in your hand--) We stayed up late and got lost in old letters (you read me your poems like a hidden soulmate--) But you spoke as though the words were written (and I was surely smitten; words etched on your heart just so--) Written in the sense that it was meant to be (and all along I wondered how we both had traveled hence--) You sang to me and set my skin on fire (I’d never felt it before how moving a melody can be--) And the words became flesh And your fingers danced on mine (No regrets to be found; Our souls molded like mesh--) I never felt so inspired by a simple traveler’s tales (but you seemed to be just like me, parallels transpired--) Led by the same convictions, bound by the same myths (a hunt for a horn, a battle to win life’s quest to be charted sans restrictions--) And I decided to stay with you and no longer venture solo (your company filled me with the rightest renew--) No longer did I wander uncertain of my plans (with a song to guide me seamlessly, each day my heart grew fonder--) We met at Crossroad’s Inn that waning winter night (two hearts folded inward, two paths intersected then--) Before I was a cynical, true, a rouge, a lost one, a tramp (but happiness, you see is only real when shared, too--) But you lit up my soul that night in the inn (and made me realize I had one, yes, for once I was whole--) And I bless the twilight And I cross my fingers (the path ahead is long and vague; the frost closes in at night--) But if we join our flames shadows lose their treachery (my heart gladdens at the thought and I believe you feel the same--) That this daunting, dark journey could end with companion warmth (and a faithful love, an open heart, a fervent wish, a sweeping symphony--)
If this is a dream, please don’t wake me.
Paths crossed, fate sealed, lives opening like heavy bound books the novels of our life stories, the stories of our solitude etched with fingertips tracing each other’s skin and healing the scar tissue and leaving new marks; For so much is still unwritten, so much my heart grows bold. And please don’t shake my faith, don’t shake me For the prophesy has only just began to unfold.
This is one of my favorites of yours. The use of parentheses are wonderfully evocative, and I like how the poem is split into two segments with two separate forms and styles. As I've mentioned before, aesthetics are important to me as a reader, and you've really nailed that aspect here. But then there's the imagery! I absolutely love the imagery of this poem. And the alliteration. And the sentimentality. And the intimacy. And the subject matter (which is particularly dear to me heart, for obvious reasons). Beautiful, love.

"Paths crossed, fate sealed, lives opening like heavy bound books" Found myself reading that line again and again... Love how it sounds, and love and that can be contained within. Beautiful writing.
This is both beautiful and worldly. I love the image of hunting and traveling, discovering someone just like that. This was on the brink of danger and adventure and love, toppling several ways at once. Heartfelt.
