Memory

Memory

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

awareness taking years

"
chasing rainbows at midnight
is not for everyone
if you have a clear memory
the chase may be more fun

the events that you remember
are what you write about every day
all those joys in your memory
give you something to say

some think rhyming is passe
so they choose another mode
not adapting to convention
 like the others seeking  gold

the form that writers select
will add meaning to every word
giving them a way to connect
in the hope they will be heard

whatever we choose to write
a critic may not understand
if our writing sheds some light
its not a house built on sand

many writers know
from judgments others make
 words that follow fashion
are not the route to take

if  writers choose their path
with words from their heart
they will have the last laugh
enjoying their world apart
