PoetryA Poem by Sam Freelandwith multiple meanings
What we see with our mind
is the image we know No two minds are the same giving each one their own show To help with this problem dictionaries were invented With multiple meanings no good thoughts prevented Failing to use this volume we believe only what we've heard Putting a serious restriction on the meaning of a word The use of language is better when it helps us to agree Giving each and every user more possibilities to see A thesaurus goes further giving many different slants Helping countless other writers avoid unnecessary rants We owe a debt to the scribes who wrote so long ago We wouldn't have the Bible telling us what was so Though some religious tomes seem to disagree They helped to save civilization letting us enjoy being free © 2009 Sam FreelandReviews
