Friendship and Truth

Friendship and Truth

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

better than a resolution

"
one of the surest ways
to feel all alone
is to speak of events
that others haven't known

the truth for them
was learned from their past
speaking of truths we know
could ruin a relationship very fast

bridging any gap
in the lives we want to share
takes a willingness from all
in our efforts to care

caring is one way
we can learn to hold our tongue
so what we say will not cause
the toll bell to be rung

relationships end
often by surprise
without ever telling
anyone lies

communication in the form
of sharing what they want to do
will go a long way
in building a friendship too

it is clearly helpful
when someone likes what we do
they often find a way
to do something enjoyable for you

now is the time
to embark on this plan
just do it with a tender heart
this poem believes that we can

The last line makes me think of a cross between Yoda and Dr. Seuss. Very positive and insightful message for the New Year.

My wise Grandfather told me often. Nothing good to say. Say nothing. Best was think before you speak. Your poem is full of good wisdom. A big smile and kind words can open even a locks door. A outstanding poem.
