Friendships

Friendships

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

practicing commitment

"
Friendship like marriage
requires more than a daily gift
Relationships don't last
when given short shrift

Lengthy relationships enjoy
 the commitment of love
What they do for each other
fit like the hand in a glove

Even when far apart
its as if both are still there
This is how they know
how much the other does care

Those who haven't  found this out
are too busy with their own game
So they have to do without
its really a sad, sad shame

To make good things happen
means not thinking only of self
The egoist will soon find
they are alone up on a shelf

When more find a way
to manage this good connection
They will likely experience
a life with less rejection

We should not believe
the future is empty of hope
Everyone can find a way
to have friends who can cope

What we can do to help
is spread the word
It will be one of our best efforts
that anyone has heard
