Admit It

Admit It

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

if you can

"

Choices are determined
by behavior that was learned
Best when aided by
those who are concerned

Their concern being directed
toward survival and being aware
Notably important is
learning what it means to care

"The gifts that we should appreciate
are the gifts that we receive"
We learned this in those early years
when told what to believe

Giving gifts were what Santa did
imaginary though he is
It mattered not to the child in us
that it means much more to give

Now that we are more aware
it is best we learn to change
Giving to those we love
is a better form of exchange

Being mature we should eschew
many of the childhood ways
In order to be an adult mentor
for the rest of our days

Good attitudes we promote
will affect every descendant
They will be able to live a life
being less dependent

Dependency is the curse
everyone should avoid
It only leads to a life
that will be declared a void
