Dependency

has several meanings

Dependency that relies
upon not doing one's share
Is a major problem
and is certainly not fair

 

But we honor dependents
who really need our care
We give all that we can
to help them get there

 

Word definitions
can change everything
 It is why we must agree
on what a word hopes to bring

 

Every conversation
might suffer a loss
If we only know one meaning
and try to be boss

 

The best solution for us
is read and listen carefully
To the context of the message
and then we might agree

 

Not agreeing may happen
but it is no loss
Unless one of us decides
they have to be boss

 

Communication only works
between people who are kind
It depends on the hope and care
that they are trying to find

 

I wouldn't be writing this
if poetry wasn't so hard
