A Longer Life

A Longer Life

A Poem by Sam Freeland
"

for some

"
If you should be so lucky
to live four score years or more
Eat every four hours
that's what your body is waiting for

Your body is a grand experiment
to find out how long you live
Don't ask for more years
unless you practice how to give

Giving to your body
is what you must learn to do
It means feeding it properly
so it can give years back to you

Your experiment required exercise
beginning in your early days
All forms of strenuous movement
building muscle is what pays

Motion helps grow capillaries
that carry all your food
Building more strong muscles
to enhance your happy mood

To find out our blood pressure
it is measured in the skin
Keeping it in a normal range
will help us to stay thin

Too much fat is the enemy
though we like it for its taste
It can shorten our life by years
but what a terrible waste

If you eat more carefully
of fruits and veggies too
You will have a longer life
given back to you

Poem told the simple truth. We need to take care of our body and mind. I could use more green food in my diet. Thank you.
